So I’ve not blogged..

Posted on

I’ve not been on for a couple of days, we’ve had a very busy weekend!

We did hit the 12 week mark on Saturday for Roo so that’s good! We were down in Woking for my aunty’s birthday BBQ on Saturday, food was so gorgeous but I felt so sick the entire drive back to Swindon as I ate too much! Mind you, that’s a regular thing with me. When we got home I was a bit emotional, so was quite upset, ended up in tears cuddled up in bed with Vid watching Braveheart. I am blaming this on my best friend of 11 years getting back in touch Saturday after months of silence. Last time I spoke to him he was refusing to come to my wedding but Saturday he was looking up how much it would cost for him to get there. I think that’s what got me most of all.

Sunday was obviously fathers day – Vid was working in the morning so Libby and I just chilled out at home, well she did, I manically cleaned the downstairs to kill time! Then when he got home he snuggled up with Libby on the sofa and watched The Lion King. We went out for dinner to COSMOS an all you can eat Chinese restaurant in Swindon, it was delicious! But I ate far too much again and suffered for it afterwards. Libby thought chop sticks were amazing and was really trying hard to use them, in the end she gave up and started stabbing the food with them to eat it, which is exactly what I would do!

Not much else to add to this weekend, except that my sister in law is in labour as we speak and will probably be giving birth to my niece at any minute!!

Laura’s baby shower!

Posted on

So yesterday, we threw a baby shower for our dear friend Laura. Suzie planted the seed months ago, so we’ve been planning for ages. We decided on a Hungry Caterpillar theme so me and Rianna set about getting the decorations, Suzie found an amazing plan for a cake, a big cake for the hungry caterpillar head and the body made of cupcakes. When it was finished, it looked amazing.

She looked so surprised when she walked through the door, and all the kids were so excited shouting “Surprise!” in fact, Libby kept saying it whilst handing Laura her presents! We got Laura some hospital bag essentials: travel size shampoo and conditioner, dry shampoo, moisturiser, deodorant, deodorant wipes, toothpaste, shower gel etc and a nice bottle of alcohol-free white zinfandel while she waits for Pip to make his appearance!

I absolutely adore baby showers, I think it’s so nice to be able to celebrate some ones pregnancy and make them feel special just before they give birth because in the late stages of pregnancy you feel pretty pants most of the time due to your clothes not fitting, waddling everywhere and generally being so tired! I had a baby shower when I was pregnant with Libby, although at the time I didn’t have many friends so it ended up being just a meal with family, but I had such a lovely time and felt fantastic. Plus, who doesn’t love a Harvester!!

This was my baby shower cake, I loved it – so pretty and girly! My cousin Sarah got it from a cake shop in Knaphill, I didn’t want to cut it, it was so beautiful.

The day we found out and the scans

1st July 2008

I was at work, and on my lunch break. I remember being woken by the fax machine ringing and realised I’d slept through my entire hour… I remember thinking that was odd and went out the front to send Jade on her lunch break. I told her I’d fallen asleep and then followed that with “I think I’m pregnant!”.

2nd July 2008

I got up early, and pee’d in a cup. I’d ordered some one step pregnancy tests from eBay a few weeks earlier and decided I was going to test even though my period wasn’t due till the 5th. I dipped the test in the wee and counted to ten, straight away I noticed a really faint positive line. I couldn’t believe it! We’d done it! There was a baby in my belly! I phoned Vid straight away to tell him and he was very sensible and brought me back down to earth by saying we needed to wait until my period was actually late. I was so excited though and decided the best way to channel this excitement was to go round to Vid’s sisters house and play with her 2 week old daughter, Grace. When I got home that afternoon, Vid was home and he gave me a beautiful bunch of flowers to say thank you for carrying his baby, despite us not meant to be getting excited.

27 August 2008

We meet our baby via ultrasound for the first time. I am stunned as I had somehow managed to convince myself it was all in my head, Vid got all tearful seeing a lovely strong heartbeat.

29th October 2008

We had our 20 week scan and at this scan it was the first time we’d entertained the idea she could be a girl. The sonographer wasn’t convincing that it definitely was a girl and we’d both been so sure it was a boy it was a bit of a shock!

13th December 2008

My Christmas present from Vid was a 4D scan, which I think is a totally amazing scan to have as it really helps you bond with the baby before it’s born. We went with FirstView imaging in Fareham, Hampshire. They were totally fantastic, we were a bit early and there was no appointment after us so we got just over an hour in there looking at our little girl. We got 50 print outs of the thermal images, a CD with them all on and a 20 minute DVD of her wriggling and jiggling about. It was WELL worth the money and I’d advise anyone to have one.

More about the first date

Posted on

Okay, so our eyes have met across a crowded courtyard area… We say our hellos and he lets out this little giggle, which is one of the things I love most about Vid. We decide to take a little walk because we’ve got ages yet till our film and we go to Area 51 tattoo parlour… probably seems quite strange but we both love tattoos and it was one of the things we had in common. Vid tells me he wants a new tattoo, an angel to go on his back along with the angel of death at the bottom. I browse the designs and see this amazing tattoo, I show him… he likes it and goes to book his appointment for the following week to start the work. I love that. He has a tattoo that will forever remind us both of our first date.

So, with the tattoo booked, it was time to go into the cinema. I remember us sitting down and sort of snuggling in. He held my hand and then we had our first kiss. I was definitely in love at this point. I don’t remember much of the film at all. I do still vividly remember him walking me to my car, so in turn I drove him down to his van. I remember thinking “what a gentleman”.

I was due to go for a night out with my friend, Jo, that night. But my head was full of fluff after spending the afternoon with Vid so I asked her if I could invite him along, Jo being an amazingly cool mate said yes. So Vid booked a hotel in Woking for that night so he could drink and not have to worry about getting home. We had such a fun night, and took loads of photos so captured the memories lovely.

So the end of the night was approaching and I was due to stay at Jo’s house, only she was trying to convince me to go back to the hotel with Vid. I kept saying no because I was worried what that might say about me. Vid overheard all of this and stepped in to say that I was more than welcome to come back and that nothing would happen as he respected me and wanted to see me again. With that I was convinced and when we got back, we cuddled in bed and slept the entire night cuddled up. By morning I was head over heels.

Within 3 weeks, I had moved in with him and we started talking about babies!

First Blog Post

Posted on

I have been thinking about doing a blog for a while now, and after reading my best friends blog (http://spudandspike.wordpress.com/) this morning  I decided to go for it.

A little background for you: I’m 24, and a stay at home mommy to my 2yr old monster, Libby. I am also expecting a second monster in December. I live in Swindon with their Daddy, Vid. We’ve been together 3 and a half years and are due to get married on the 2nd of September this year, which is about 81 days away… I will also be around 23 weeks pregnant by then.

I met Vid on match.com after coming out of a very on/off relationship, I just wanted to get to know somebody properly before meeting them and try to avoid that realisation that the person you’re with isn’t who you thought they were… Vid sent me an email and I checked out his profile, I couldn’t help but think I’d met him before, like I recognised his eyes. His profile picture was one with him and a female friend, which probably should have been a bit off putting, but all I saw was his gorgeous blue eyes, and the England rugby top. Fantastic. Something in common! So we emailed for a couple of weeks, talking about rugby and my new car. I dropped into conversation that I was on MSN if he wanted to chat and it took him a little while but he got back to me with his contact details and we started chatting on their every evening after work, usually from around 6pm till 2am, and then would text most days as we both worked in jobs where we were on the road everyday. After a week of the intense MSN chatting and texting we decided to meet in Basingstoke, I lived in Woking, he lived in Alton, it seemed like a good middle ground. I suggested we see a film so at least if we didn’t get on as well in real life we’d have something to talk about, we agreed on Aliens Vs Predator 2.

On the day, I decided to arrive early, this is a tip I’d recommend for anyone doing internet dating, arrive early so you can people watch and hope to spot them looking for you as opposed to looking through the crowds searching for someone you’re not really sure you’ll recognise. Anyway, we were due to meet at 1:30, I got there around 1:15 and as soon as I walked through the door, I saw him. He was sat on the bench, waiting for me, with a white rose. He looked up and smiled and I couldn’t help but grin. I knew then, I wanted to have his babies. He has said since that he too, knew at that point I would be the mother of his children
